Jacob Maarse Florists have been a southern California tradition since 1966. Located in a renovated Cadillac dealership in Pasadena's historic Playhouse District, Jacob Maarse Florists have played a vital role in the community's rich and vibrant history.

Jacob Maarse founded his first florists shop in Pasadena, California, in 1966. Maarse, who came from a family of flower growers in Alsmeer, Holland, brought his European design sense and thorough knowledge of the floral industry to his new business. The original staff of seven has grown to sixty employees, some of whom have worked for Maarse for more than thirty years.

Unique among local florists, Maarse grows roses in his three-acre Sierra Madre garden that are sold in the shop and used in many floral arrangements. The Maarse family has a close relationship with farms throughout the world to provide only the finest and freshest blooms delivered daily direct from the growers.

For the last forty years Jacob Maarse Florists have provided flowers for weddings, birthdays, Hollywood productions and corporate events. Arrangements have appeared at the Hollywood Bowl and are celebrated every year as the bouquets gracing the Rose Court of Pasadena's Tournament of Roses Parade.

Jacob Maarse Florists have even provided flowers for special occasions that belong in the history books, including arrangements for a momentous visit by Soviet premier Leonid Brezhnev to President Richard M. Nixon's "Western White House" in San Clemente.
